Paramedic of the Year
When I think of Louisiana EMS, I think of many things. I think of Nightwatch in New Orleans. I think of Acadian throughout the state. I think of East Baton Rouge Parish EMS. But when I think of a Louisiana paramedic, I can only think of one name. This person has over a 20 year career. They have been a training officer, program director and education director. This person holds every certification known to man, ACLS, PHTLS, PALS, PEPP, and Critical Care Transport to name a few. This person has won several local and national awards and instructor everything from 1st Responder to Paramedic.
If anyone in my family was critically ill, I want this Paramedic to walk in the door. While this paramedic whose clinical skills and knowledge are above and beyond reproach, it’s their gentle, warm demeanor and good humor that wins the day and the hearts of their patients. His personality wins over both nationally in advocating for better educated EMS professionals, increased awareness of mental health awareness, and in mentoring so many EMS professionals. It is my honor to award Stephen Kelly Grayson as this year’s Paramedic of the Year.
